Homeowners have no legal duty to have a yearly gas check, but Gas Safe Register recommends one, and most boiler warranties ask for an annual service. In a 1930s semi with a system boiler, the service covers the boiler, and a full gas safety check also covers the cooker and any gas fire in the front room.
